Nurse Kate Richards

Nurse Kate Richards joins Skye Medical Armadale as the practice nurse after working in similar roles in Applecross and Kelmscott for nearly 3 years.

Kate brings a wealth of experience to the practice from both locally in WA and from the UK, where Kate lived and trained until late 2013.

Kate was raised in Chichester on the south-east coast of England where she attended the Chichester School for Girls. After that, she attended the Chichester and Graylingwell School of Nursing training as a General nurse.

Upon completion of her nursing training, Kate began working in St. Richard’s hospital in Chichester – covering orthopaedics and general medical wards as well as the emergency department.

Kate then moved away from hospitals and into General Practice, starting as a junior practice nurse at a local medical centre. General Practice was clearly Kate’s passion as she stayed at the medical centre, learning and progressing to become the Nurse Practitioner at the centre, only leaving when her and her husband chose to emigrate to Perth.

Kate’s professionalism and dedication to nursing and the community were pivotal in her recruitment.

When asked what she enjoyed most about being a practice nurse, Kate said “I enjoy building a rapport with patients, helping patients feel comfortable and building trust”.

Outside of work, Kate is a wife and mum of 2 and enjoys the beautiful beaches here in Perth as well as the scenic bike rides around the city – next time you see her be sure to ask her about her Harley!
